Overnight shifts are tough for any employee. But group home direct service providers (DSPs) face unique challenges.
The major one? Staying awake and alert during long periods of quiet and downtime.
And it’s not just DSPs. Group home administrators and managers have their challenges, too. They struggle to monitor staff attendance and awake status across multiple locations—especially during overnight shifts
when most are out of the office and unable to provide immediate support.
Some of these same administrators still rely on old-fashioned tactics like conducting their own check-in calls
and surprise “nocturnal audits” to ensure staff are awake and alert throughout their shifts.
May 2017. The SteadyCare Owls women’s softball team has been gathering each year for some friendly softball competition with other local softball teams. An opportunity for women with similar interests and backgrounds to get together, the solicitation for players went out to former teammates, colleagues, and online bulletin boards. 
SteadyCare has committed to walk and raise money for the American Diabetes Association, for our third year in the Step Out Walk on Boston Common on October 21, 2017.
